The mission in Seoul processes applications from South Korea only.75% of workload is related to the issuing of student visas and Seoul is the CIC office, which issues the most student visas. Even though half the staff is only processing temporary resident visas (student), the Seoul mission is also very effective in processing permanent resident applications and is one of the fastest CIC offices in the world.

The Canadian High Commission in Singapore is one of the larger CIC offices and covers the majority of Southeast Asian countries (except Malaysia and the Philippines) as well as Bangladesh. Even though the High Commission covers a very large area from Bangladesh to East-Timor, processing times are just slightly below average.

The mission in Sydney only processes applications from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands and is one of the smaller missions. There are not a lot of applications from the Pacific region and processing times are well above average.

TAIPEI, TAIWAN

The mission in Taipei only processes applications from Taiwan. With more than 60,000 visas issued, the mission is one of the biggest issuers of temporary resident visas (TRV). The office processes around 2500 permanent resident applications a year and is the most efficient of all CIC offices, coming out first in the ranking. The average processing time for spousal sponsorship applications is only 2 to 4 month - a #1 top ranking.

The visa office in Tel Aviv only processes applications from Israel and the West Bank (Palestinian Authority). The Tel Aviv office is one of the smallest CIC visa posts and has only one designated immigration officer. The relatively small territory and population covered makes it easy for this CIC office to run quite efficiently. The mission ranks above average and is together with Damascus the fastest office in the Middle East.

TOKYO, JAPAN

The office in Tokyo used to be a satellite office of the CIC mission in Manila and has only been promoted to a full service office in December 2008. The new office processes only applications from Japan and saw an increase in staff with a new designated Program manager for the mission. Note: The ranking of last year was based on 2008 numbers, when Tokyo was still a satellite office of Manila.

VIENNA, AUSTRIA

The mission in Vienna covers applications from all countries which used to make up the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The office covers a vast territory with 10 different national languages and officers have to travel extensively. Additonal screening for war crimes and crimes against humanity (applicants from Ex-Yugoslavia) affect application processing times from this area. Even with those restraints, the Vienna office manages to process applications relatively fast and is above average, even though it dropped 4 spots in the ranking in 2009.

WARSAW, POLAND

The CIC office in Warsaw services Poland, Belarus and the three Baltic countries. The mission is well staffed and processes applications relatively fast, ranking 6th out of 44 visa posts. The Warsaw office is also the second fastest office in Europe (after Bucharest, Romania).
