VISA OFFICE
PARIS, FRANCE
(CIC region: Europe)
staff: 8 Canadian based / 42 local staff
last internal audit in October 2003
ranks # 25 out of 44 visa posts
The mission in Paris is one of the larger CIC missions, covering a territory of 13 countries as well as housing the Regional medical office. The Paris mission had to cope with a strong influx (numbers are up by 30% compared to 2006) of permanent resident applications mainly from France but also from Algeria and Tunisia. The effect of this can be seen in the slower than average processing times and we expect even slower processing times for 2010.

The office in Rome processes applications from Albania, Greece, Italy (with San Marino and Vatican City) and Malta. The office in Rome is very much average when it comes to processing times. Processing times should improve over the next few years, since applications from Albania have been going down steadily the last few years and those from Greece and Italy have been relatively stable over the last 10 years.
