VISA OFFICE
DAMASCUS, SYRIA

(CIC region: Africa / Middle East)

staff: 12 Canadian based / 35 local staff
last internal audit in October 2005
ranks # 9 out of 44 visa posts

The CIC office in Damascus in one of the larger CIC offices and covers a vast territory: Cyprus, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon. The mission also has a satellite office at the embassy in Amman, Jordan. Even though the Damascus office is very fast, there have been growing problems with the satellite office in Amman and refusal rates in the spousal sponsorship category are very high, especially for those dealing with the Amman office.
